So who’s it going to be in the Big 12 South, Oklahoma or Texas? Because Oklahoma lost All-American running back Adrian Peterson to the NFL and because the Sooners must break in yet another new quarterback, we are going to side with the Texas Longhorns at 11/10 odds listed at Bodog.
The Hook ‘em Horns have the best quarterback in the Big 12 in Colt McCoy. No pocket passer is more poised and calm under pressure. Texas also brings the most depth and speed to the table in this league. We have no doubts that Texas will come out on top over Oklahoma in 2007.
In the Big 12 North, the Nebraska Corn Huskers are clearly the team to beat. While Missouri boasts a talented offense, the Tigers lack a solid enough defense to bring the “Show-me State” a title. Nebraska has proven itself as a program which can refuel quickly with established premier Juco athletes. Nebraska is the most complete team in this half of the division on both sides of the ball. Its spread offense will continue to give this weak defensive division all kinds of fits.
Nebraska is listed at 1/1 odds at Bodog and even money is good enough value for us to pounce on them this season.
In looking at the conference as a whole, we feel Texas will be the team who wins the Big 12 Championship game. Texas’s speed is unmatched and no team is better suited to get through inevitable injuries than the Longhorns who are among the deepest teams in the country.
At BetUS, you can grab Texas at +125, which is very solid value for this favorite.
