2007 Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears are our hands down pick to win the NFC North title this season. The best big play defense in all of football and a constantly improving offensive roster gives them a shot at winning another Super Bowl in 2007.

The media wants to throw the Tank Johnson situation in your face, They want to talk about Lovie Smith’s contract disputes and Lance Briggs’ threat to hold out. The sports media can bring up as many negative aspects as they want about this Chicago Bears team o try to cut them down, but the bottom line is that these boys will show up to play every Sunday, and they’ll be one of the elite teams once again in the NFL this season.
What else will we here? The loss of Thomas Jones is going to hurt the Bears run game? Cedric Benson was getting the bulk of the carries already heading down the stretch run of the season and could end up a Pro Bowler after a full season as a feature back. The media can talk about the prospective growing pains under first-year coordinator Bob Babich. Bottom line is that Lovie loves this guy and with a healthy Mike Brown and Tommie Harris, the Bears still have more talent on the defensive side of the ball than just about every other team in the league.
The Bears’ front office was adamant about giving Rex Grossman every opportunity to quarterback this team and it paid off last season. The Bears tied for second in the NFL in points scored. An offense that finished at the bottom of the league in 2005 leaped to middle of the pack in 2006 and there is still more room for Grossman to grow. His arm strength is unquestionable and the talent is there. Now it just comes down to performing under pressure and making good decisions with the football. The pressure situations he played in last season should go a long way in bolstering his confidence. With Bernard Berrian emerging as one of the games best deep threats, opponents will have to respect Grossman’s ability to go deep which should open up plenty of room for Cedric Benson between the tackles. The Bears proved without a shadow of a doubt that a little offense goes along way with their big play defense. Even the slightest offensive improvement and we could see Chicago back in the NFL Championship game.
Lovie Smith’s cover-2 defense will once again be one of the most dominant units in all of football. Before losing several key players to injury, the Bears held their first 10 opponents to less than 300 yards total offense and recorded 29 takeaways. No defense in the NFL plays like they want the football more than the Bears. Chicago was first in the league in turnovers forced and it was its ability to come up with big defensive takeaways that put them in a position to win a Super Bowl last season. We can expect the Bears defense to improve with restored health in 2007 and once again be at the top of the charts in takeaways. As of now, there’s no team in the NFC messing with Chicago.
