2007 SuperBowl MVP Odds

The book makers have spoken with their 2007 Superbowl MVP Odds making Peyton Manning the favorite to win the Super Bowl MVP Award which doesn’t come as a surprise. What does come as a surprise to me is that Chicago Bear’s quarterback Rex Grossman is number two on the list. Quarterback’s do rule the Super Bowl MVP Award, and if Grossman wins it, it will likely be by default. This Bears team reminds me of the Baltimore Ravens team who won the Super Bowl a few years back. Trent Dilfer wasn’t actually the MVP even though that was the face that Disney chose to present to the public. The Super Bowl MVP was actually Ray Lewis. If the Bears pull off an upset in Super Bowl 41, I think we could see a similar scenario with Brain Urlacher taking home the Super Bowl MVP trophy. At 15 to 1 odds, if you like the Bears to win, I think you should make Mr. Urlacher your best bet for the Super Bowl MVP.

Although the odds are good at 11 to 2, I definitely wouldn’t take the field. This is a sucker bet in my opinion. You would be better off taking Robbie Gould, the Chicago Bears’ kicker at 40 to 1 odds. He’s not really a sleeper, but Reggie Wayne is the fourth listed Colt favored to win Super Bowl MVP and I think he shows great value at 12 to 1 odds. The Bears will likely key on Marvin Harrison opening up Wayne for a big game. If he’s on the other end of a couple Peyton Manning touchdown deliveries, he might just bring home a Super Bowl MVP trophy.
