After any horse wins the Kentucky Derby, we have to ask if they have a chance at winning the Triple Crown. We haven’t seen a Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978, but plenty have teased us over the last few years. What we know is that Street Sense looks like a champion, but then again, so did Silver Charm, Real Quiet, Charismatic, War Emblem, Smarty Jones, and Funny Cide. Will we be teased yet again or should we finally sense another Triple Crown winner with Street in 2007.

Bet Your Triple Crown Predictions at Bodog and if you sign up for a NEW account and let them know our site sent you, we’ll give you FREE premium service!

Jimmy Boyd’s 2007 Preakness Stakes predictions won’t steer you wrong. Let’s have a look at what should have us hopeful for a Triple Crown winner this year.

There’s no doubt that Street Sense was the best horse in the Derby. His lengthy move from the back of the pack to the front showed his pure power. This has us glass half-full optimists thinking that if Street can shatter the field under the Derby’s tough conditions that he can have his way with the friendlier Preakness track.

On the other side of this, we have to take into account that the 2007 Kentucky Derby and the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile are Street’s biggest wins and they have both come at Churchill Downs. Hopefully he isn’t a one-course horse.

The thing that really makes me hopeful that he can arrive first at the Preakness is that there is a smaller field. He won’t have as many horse to navigate through if he does drop back early. But this also means more room for his competitors. This will help horses like Curlin and Hard Spun who don’t run their best races on physical tracks.

Perhaps, the biggest thing to worry about is the fresh horses coming in. Just last year, a fresh Bernardini swooped in and beat the talented returners in the Preakness. This year, I don’t see any Benardini’s however. The most notable of these fresh horses is Todd Pletcher’s King of the Roxy. If he wasn’t even able to make it into Pletcher’s top five at the Derby, we shouldn’t have to worry about him ruining the fun at the Preakness. Pletcher’s 0-for-26 Triple Crown record is also quite good news.

Street Sense left the Derby healthy as an ox which is not always the case. He has only ran in two prep races this season which should definitely be to his benefit.

Street’s trainer has only had one Derby winner (Unbridled in 1990) who went on to finish second at the Preakness. Most would say that this history isn’t in Street’s favor, but I would say otherwise. There’s no doubt that Street Sense has a better finishing kick than any Horse Carl Nafzger has ever had. History tells me that Nafzger will have his horse ready and the talented colt will take care of the rest. I’m pulling for Street at the Preakness.

Don’t bet on the most famous horse race in the world without doing research in making your Kentucky Derby predictions. There are plenty of sources of statistical information on the internet to help you find the data that you need to pick the horse that you want. Horse handicapping is a time honored tradition and is one thing that public has loved to do for a very long time. You don’t even have to pick which horse is going to win as you can also bet on 2nd (to place) or 3rd (to show). Of course if you bet on a horse to show and they get 1st or 2nd you get to cash in on that as well, but you will get paid less than betting them to win. For more you can also check out our Kentucky Derby betting page.

Bet Your Kentucky Derby Predictions at Bodog and if you sign up for a NEW account and let them know our site sent you, we’ll give you FREE premium service!

You will need to know that there is no such thing as a lock when it comes to making your Kentucky Derby predictions. All of the analysts and broadcasters covering the event start falling in love with one or two horses and these become the darlings of the betting public. The sportsbooks couldn’t love this more because they know that the real value is in one of the underdogs, or should we say underhorses in this case so look for high payouts in the Kentucky Derby odds before placing any bets.

Another important factor in making Kentucky Derby predictions is to go with experienced trainers and jockeys. These are the guys that have been here before, know what it takes to win, and will be preparing for victory. It’s not just trainers and jockeys but horses as well. Look for a consistent performer, not a horse that has been known to take races off. A lot of people go into depth with the breed of the horse, but this is getting a little technical for most of the beginners who come to our site.
