Central Florida-Marshall: Knights Continue Quest for C-USA Championship
From virtually out of the race for the conference championship, the UCF Knights now have a chance in their quest for a C-USA Championship run.
After defeating Rice definitively last weekend, the Knights hope to build on that momentum this Sunday in a nationally televised game against Marshall.
Marshall is 3-1 in the East Division while UCF is 2-2. With a win this weekend and a loss by Southern Mississippi (who plays Houston this weekend), UCF can propel themselves into second place in the division behind East Carolina, who are currently 4-1 (and who UCF lost to earlier in the season).
The showdown occurs at 8:15 p.m. this Sunday and will be airing on ESPN. Being nationally televised, it is even more important than ever for UCF to play a good game.
UCF needs all the exposure we can get. As the third largest university in the country, we need to start making a name for ourselves in sports, especially football, which is the most valued sport in America.
Being nationally televised gives us that chance, and Knights fans are excited. We want to show America the home field advantage that UCF has. Bright House Networks Stadium will be loud.
As opposed to the game against the Hurricanes, just putting up a fight will not be good enough. This is where the momentum we gained against the Rice Owls comes into play. I do not expect a 49-7 whomping again, but a victory is necessary—not only to make a name for ourselves, but also to have a chance to play in a bowl game and to further draw attention to the university.
The University of Central Florida Knight-Nation will take any chance it has to make a name for itself, and this Sunday is no different. This is a good team, a great school, and a great football program that we have here, and we want to show off.
