Preakness Predictions

There are going to be a lot of people making Preakness predictions on the third Saturday of every May and you can make a choice to either make informed betting decisions or to take chances.  The readers at Jeff Alexander Sports are going to be able to have articles covering all aspects of the race, from betting to the latest odds, and even on this page some tips on how to make predictions of your own.  Of course if you don’t want to put in all the hard work necessary then you should take a look at our Preakness picks packages.

Beat the odds on the second leg of the Triple Crown is much easier than making Kentucky Derby predictions.  The reason is that you have seen the horses in one major race already so you know how they are going to respond to the pressure.  It’s important to study the first race because in recent years the top finishers at the Derby have done incredibly well at the Preakness.  Of course, the odds makers also take this into account when setting the odds at Pimlico, so realize that if you want long-shot value you are going to have to either pick a horse that got stuck in the middle of the pack or didn’t even run in the first race.

When we make our Preakness predictions we put an emphasis on the trainers.  If a trainer has won Triple Crown races in the past then you can bet on the fact that he knows how to get his horse in peak condition for this race.  If history shows us that a trainer works his horse hard to prepare for the Derby, but then those horses fade at the Preakness then these are ponies to stay away from.  When taking a look at the latest Preakness odds you should make sure that you are betting at a racebook that allows exactas and trifectas.  This is the best way to get a big payout out of the horses, especially with the success the favorites have been having.  Whatever you decide to do for the race, we wish you the best of luck on your selections.
